- Anselmino praised by Niko Kovac
- Defender is playing on loan from Chelsea
- 20-year-old arrived just six days ago
Anselmino, who arrived from Chelsea as a loanee last week, started for Dortmund against Unión de Berlín and marshalled the backline to help his team earn a 3-0 win, their first of the Bundesliga estación.
The 20-year-old Argentinian joined Chelsea last summer from Boca Juniors and arrived in London earlier this year after being loaned back to the Argentine club. His only appearance for the Blues has been a two-minute cameo against Benfica in the Club Copa del Mundo and first-team opportunities were expected to be limited this season. With Dortmund running short of defenders in their squad, a temporary switch to the Bundesliga was arranged.
He slotted straight into the starting XI against Union Berlin days after his arrival in Alemania and impressed the Dortmund boss. Moreover, he also set up Serhou Guirassy for his team’s second goal before he went off with cramp after 75 minutes.
Kovac said after the game to DAZN: “Anselmino played a world-class game. That’s why we brought him in. He’s physically fit. He lacks rhythm. When you haven’t played for a long time, you get cramps like that. But Aaron is physically in top shape.”
Dortmund will resume their Bundesliga action after the international break on September 13 to face Heidenheim.
