- Fernandes revealed his son is a Madrid fan
- Wore Bellingham’s jersey to celebrate fifth birthday
- Man Utd captain was linked with a move away
Fernandes shared photographs and videos of his son Goncalo’s birthday party, after he turned five. In one of the photographs, Goncalo can be seen enjoying his fifth birthday wearing a Real Madrid jersey, with Bellingham on the back. The Unido captain couldn’t be with his son in person, as he is currently in Hungary for Portugal‘s Copa del Mundo qualifier, but he did video chat with his youngest child.
In the caption of his Instagram post, Fernandes shared an emotional message for his son, which read: “Today is your youngest day. 5 years of the most cuddly and affectionate boy in the family. Thank you for all the joy and love you bring every day to those around you.”
El Portugal international was heavily linked with a move to the Liga Profesional Saudí this summer as Al-Hilal y Al-Nassr tried to sign the Red Devils skipper. The midfielder, however, turned down those offers, as he wanted to continue with the Liga Premier giants. Recent reports, though, claim that he could be open to leaving Old Trafford next season, with a move to either MLS or to the Middle East on the cards.
After facing Hungary with Portugal in midweek, Fernandes will be back in action for Ruben Amorim’s side on September 14, as they take on rivals Manchester City in the Premier League.
