Unido have moved their first-choice keeper from the last two seasons out after seeing him make a number of costly errors. They spent much of the summer searching for another No.1- amid links to Emi Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma – and eventually acquired Belgian shot-stopper Senne Lammens.
According to the Noticias vespertinas de Mánchester United players were eager to see Onana leave once that deal was done as having four senior goalkeepers on the club’s books would have presented a “problem”.
Confidence is also said to have “dwindled” in the Old Trafford camp when it comes to Altay Bayindir, who started the current campaign between the sticks. Tom Heaton is not considered to be a contender for Liga Premier game time at 39 years of age.
