- Ex-Man Utd boss lasted two games of new season
- Former Tottenham manager linked with post
- Reins set to be handed to experienced Danish coach
Interest in the former Celtic and Tottenham manager was said to have been shown after the decision was taken to sever ties with Ten Hag. The Dutch tactician was relieved of his duties in Leverkusen just two games into the 2025-26 campaign.
The ex-Manchester United and Ajax boss failed to convince club bosses after being drafted in as successor to Real Madrid-bound Xabi Alonso over the summer. The decision was quickly taken to make another change in the dugout.
According to Sky Deutschland Leverkusen are ready to pass their reins to Kasper Hjulmand. He, like Postecoglou, is another experienced coach who currently finds himself out of work.
Hjulmand spent four years in charge of the Denmark national team between 2020 and 2024. He does boast prior experience of life in Germany, but only lasted six months during a forgettable stint in charge of Mainz during the 2014-15 campaign.
Leverkusen believe that he is the right man to restore stability to their ranks, although Sky are eager to point out that no deal has been done as yet. Talks remain ongoing, with the plan being to have Hjulmand at the helm for a clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday.
