The all-time great has, at 38 years of age, conceded that fitness concerns could lead to him missing out on the defence of a global title in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“When I’m with the team, it’s still a long time before we start thinking about the World Cup. Lots of months ahead before that comes into the frame. It’s all about concentrating on Tottenham.”
