- Petrovic set for fresh challenge
- Will join Cherries on five-year deal
- 伯恩茅斯 to replace Kepa with Petrovic
According to The Athletic Petrovic has been granted permission by the Blues to undergo a medical next week at the Cherries. He spent the 2024–25 season on loan at Strasbourg, 切爾西‘s sister club in 法甲聯賽, which is also owned by the BlueCo group. He featured in 31 matches for the French side, playing a vital role in their seventh-place finish that secured a UEFA Conference League spot. His standout displays earned him the club’s Supporters’ Player of the Season award.
Despite his strong performances in 法國, it was made clear to Petrovic upon his return to west London that his long-term future would lie elsewhere. Chelsea had honoured a gentleman’s agreement allowing the 25-year-old to leave if a club met the £25 million asking price, a figure Bournemouth are now ready to match.
With Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen sharing goalkeeping duties last season and Enzo Maresca reportedly keen on ball-playing keepers, Petrovic’s chances of becoming first choice looked slim. However, he has already returned for pre-season in 英格蘭 and has been training at Cobham alongside other fringe players like Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell and Renato Veiga away from the main squad, who are competing in the 團結的 States in the Club 世界盃.
All that remains now is for Petrovic to pass his medical and formally agree on personal terms, steps that are expected to be completed early next week. Once confirmed, he will become one of Bournemouth’s marquee summer additions, joining a squad looking to push further up the 英超聯賽 table under manager Andoni Iraola.
