Fabrizio Romanohas reported that Fenerbahce are now “working on” a deal to sign Ederson. It comes after fierce Istanbul rivals 加拉塔薩雷 failed in their own €10 million (£8.7m/$11.7m) approach, raising the possibility that the Brazilian could yet depart City after eight years in Manchester.
Having made 372 City appearances, Ederson has played second fiddle to summer signing James Trafford in the early weeks of 2025-26, even after recovering from the sickness bug that ruled him out of the season opener. While the preference was thought to be going into the campaign with Ederson and Trafford, the club has rarely stood in the way of players who want to leave. In that scenario, City would suddenly have the scope to go after Donnarumma, who is looking for a transfer out of PSG after coach 路易斯 Enrique decided to go in a different direction.
Ederson is into the final 12 months of his City contract and might be considered likely to leave next summer anyway. He has been heavily linked with a move since last year when there was interest from the 沙特職業聯賽.
If Ederson leaves, Romano additionally reported that Donnarumma “will join” City with a degree of certainty. The transfer window for Turkish clubs remains open until September 13, meaning there is no rush for Fenerbahce to complete a deal – or even Galatasaray return with a rival approach. But City would have to have strong indication that he will definitely leave, because their consequential approach for Donnarumma would need to be done much sooner, by 7pm (BST) on Monday night.
