USWNT star Jaedyn Shaw to join NJ/NY Gotham FC as North Carolina Courage agree to NWSL record trade

USWNT star Jaedyn Shaw is set to complete an NWSL record transfer to NJ/NY Gotham FC from the North Carolina Courage. The Bats have reportedly agreed to pay a fee of $1.25 million for Shaw, which is more than double the previous record set less than a month ago when the Kansas City Current signed Ally Sentnor.

Gotham FC, who are currently sixth in the table, are looking to add some creativity to their midfield and as a result, have decided to break the bank for the 20-year-old. They will pay the total fee amount in multiple instalments and will offer Shaw a four-year deal.

While Shaw’s deal will set a new NWSL record, in the list of the most expensive in Women’s football history, it will stand at number two, behind Grace Gyoro’s move from . The newly promoted Women’s side paid a whopping €1.65m (£1.43m/$1.93m) to sign the French midfielder.

Gotham FC will be back in action this Saturday as they take on the San Diego Wave in a crucial NWSL clash.
